Will She Get Away Unscathed?

Kellie Leitch is in a tight spot. Her campaign manager, Nick Kouvalis, has admitted manufacturing falsehoods. Michael  Harris writes:

Kouvalis has admitted that he posted a pack of lies about Justin Trudeau for the express purpose of getting a rise out of the Left.

He trumpeted on Twitter that Trudeau has wasted “billions” of taxpayers’ dollars on dubious foreign aid, including $351 million to the designated terrorist group Hamas. His bogus claim was almost immediately outed as false and cringeworthy, first by Jason Markusoff of Maclean’s, then by others. At least Kouvalis didn’t claim that Trudeau was not born in Canada.

He has a track record when it comes to this kind of behaviour:

Kouvalis went into Irwin Cotler’s riding and lied about the Liberal MP’s imminent retirement. Harper’s government House Leader of the day, Peter Van Loan, called that “freedom” of expression. House Speaker Andrew Scheer, now a candidate for the CPC leadership, called it “reprehensible.”

Kouvalis is the guy who said, “This is how the Left operates”, in the wake of the alleged break-in at Kellie Leitch’s home. No facts.

And, in case you've forgotten, Kouvalis was Rob Ford's campaign guru.

Our neighbour to the South has shown the world what arises from this kind of politics. The question is straightforward: Will Kellie Leitch get away unscathed?

If they see Leitch as a path back to Conservatives power, Owen, her supporters will not be troubled by the company she keeps. Such is the state of politics today.

Like Mr. Kurtz, I suspect there's a large vacuum at Leitch's core, Lorne.

The Trump virus seems to be spreading north Owen, I just hope we can inoculate our citizens here north of the border from it but suspect it has been laying dormant in some right wing circles for years.

Leitch knows there's an itch than can be scratched, Rural. And she seems intent on spreading the disease.

.. its all good .. best these odd twisty folk out themselves .. Its a pretty interesting manifestation of McLuhanism.. the weak flailing and posturing of The Kellie & a Kouvalis.. Try as I might, I can find no other human who had these beasts better identified (Hunter S Thompson aside). He used code words of course.. 'message' also + 'massage' So always remember the great Tom Wolfe who recognized greatness when he saw or heard it.. McLuhan on entering a San Francisco strip club with blue suited bankers and Tom Wolfe. One banker cried, my god, they're naked..! Wherupon ol Marshall chided them .. 'no they're not, they're wearing us' ..

So how should we perceive or represent the komedics Kellie & Kouvalis ? Are they strippers wearing us ? A politically posturing circus act ? Is this just a giant leg pull of foolish n lazy mainstream media ? This MP, a surgeon, sat silent re asbestos - yes, the Harper era - the great environmental sellout via omnibus bills. Make no mistake, they are now attempting to lecture Canadians.. the true gospel according to Kellie + a bit of Nick Kouvalis mixed in the massage.. yes, I said massage, not a typo.

McLuhan -- native of Saskatchewan -- was familiar with large empty spaces, salamander. He knew an empty message when he saw or heard it. The medium didn't matter.

Remember the days when "odious" wasn't a job requirement? Kouvalis went from building mini vans on the Chrysler plant assembly line to paid political arsehole virtually overnight on the strength of his deviant personality. He even got to play "second sphincter" to Rob Ford. Even Lee Atwater repented before his death. Kouvalis, probably not.

I've always found it ironic, Mound, that Atwater died of brain cancer.

They make a lovely couple in the photo. Have I missed something about political protocol? Is Nick's tux a uniform of a head waiter or the Rear Admiral of the Sea Cadets?

Good question, zoombats. Judging from others' attire, it looks out of place.
