When belief, essentially faith, displaces evidence, fact and logic and a population, in this state, can instal someone like Trump into the presidency, ignorance has been transformed into an attribute. The Mound of Soundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09023839743772372922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35117130.post-36259659415603896642017-03-15T12:53:07.961-04:002017-03-15T12:53:07.961-04:00Given the precarious existence of the planet, Stev...Given the precarious existence of the planet, Steve, one hundred years makes you sound like an optimist.Owen Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06464860078574618579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35117130.post-8420784837375492342017-03-15T11:31:56.959-04:002017-03-15T11:31:56.959-04:00I hate to be Debbie Downer Owen. There is also a price to be paid for failed potential -- the potential to learn from our mistakes. But, as Confucius suggests, we have to be aware of our own ignorance.Owen Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06464860078574618579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35117130.post-25741188989619442222017-03-15T09:39:05.515-04:002017-03-15T09:39:05.515-04:00I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion that...I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion that we pay a price for ignorance. Like the two judges who made grievous mistakes because of their apparent ignorance, we most definitely pay a price when we act out of ignorance as you say: President appears to be another good example of that. For the great majority of people who are profoundly ignorant one thing or another which is of no concern to them and will have no effect on them, there is no price for that. And that kind of ignorance, I believe, is the most common kind. But for those who are not ignorant of some things which are important not only to themselves, but to other people, and fail to act when they should, I would argue they also pay a price - perhaps a heavy one, and at the very least, a price of failed conscience.Oscarnoreply@blogger.com
