Ambassador Palin?

Ashifa Kassam reports in The Guardian that Sarah Palin is being considered for the post of American Ambassador to Canada.  Presumably, her main qualification for the job is that, from Alaska, she can see Canada. Be that as it may, rumours of her appointment have sparked typically acerbic Canadian criticism:

“Sarah Palin as ambassador?” New Democrat MP Charlie Angus asked on Twitter. “Well that would show how little Steve Bannon and his pal @realDonaldTrump think of Canada.”

“Appointing Sarah Palin as the US ambassador to Canada is, like, ultimate trolling,” noted one. “If he makes Sarah Palin the US Ambassador to Canada. I say we keep our oil and hockey players. BTW … does she speak Canadian?” Asked another.

One particularly glum commentator weighed in with this request:

"Dear Mr. Trump: Rather than appoint Sarah Palin as ambassador to Canada, please bomb us. Signed, all intelligent life in Canada.”

The story may just be fake news. There's a lot of that going around.

Things are getting more and more absurd, Owen. it is taking time to gt our heads around the rabbit hole we have been sucked into.

That's one way of Trump getting rid of Palin Owen. Send her out of the country by foisting her on the Canadians. We shouldn't take her too seriously. If she does become Ambassador we should see her as a hilarious distraction.

Chris Hedges calls it American Psychosis, Lorne. It's a menace to public health. And it will be hard to stop it at the border.

Entertaining, yes, Pam. Canadians have always made fun of witless behaviour. But she could also do a lot of damage.

Declining to receive her Letter of Accreditation would be seen as an act of war by Trump I imagine.

Still, might be the best thing to do. If the Trump decides to attack a NATO member country all the cards will be on the table.

I suspect the ambassadorship will be on the agenda when Trudeau meets Trump, Dana. I wouldn't be surprised if Justin came with a list of names.

Could be meaningless if all the decisions are made in the White House and all the work done by her underlings. Her job would basically be photo ops.

Which suggests that for Americans we don't matter, rww. And, perhaps for Trump, that's absolutely true.

One look at Trump's cabinet roster, Owen, and it's pretty apparent that we're into Rick Perry-grade talent. The US State Department would probably give Palin one of those speech-capable iPads and just call it in.

Every time Palin opened her mouth, Mound, she could cause an international incident.

If Trump appoints Sarah as ambassodor it should be taken as a high complement. Most Persidents would be high to do it but Trump is a execption.

the whole idea of Trump is that the old ways did not work. This was totally factual. So lets embrace the reality tv world for what it is, not reality.

Your comment is witty, Anon. But it needs to be initialed to be published.

Palin knows nothing abou diplomacy, Steve. And Trump knows nothing about governing.
