Noble Prizes?

Yesterday, Donald Trump held a virtual town hall at the Lincoln Memorial. There, he compared himself to the man whose statue towered above him. Allyson Chiu writes in The Washington Post:

Sitting inside the cavernous Lincoln Memorial on Sunday for Fox News’s virtual town hall, President Trump appeared to draw inspiration from his surroundings when asked about why he uses divisive language and dodges questions during White House coronavirus briefings.
“I am greeted with a hostile press, the likes of which no president has ever seen. The closest would be that gentleman right up there,” Trump said from his perch on a high-backed stool, pointing at the imposing marble statue of martyred president Abraham Lincoln in the background. Lincoln was assassinated in April, 1865.
“They always said, ‘Lincoln, nobody got treated worse than Lincoln,’" Trump continued. “I believe I am treated worse.”

Trump went on a Twitter rampage last week against journalists who are awarded "Noble Prizes." To begin with, journalists in the United States receive Pulitzer Prizes -- not Nobel Prizes. And, yes, that's Nobel Prizes, not Noble Prizes.

Every time Trump opens his mouth he proves one thing -- and one thing only. His ignorance is as cavernous as the Lincoln Memorial itself.

Breathtakingly ignorance seems to be no disqualifier in the world Trump Nation inhabits, Owen. Indeed, it might even be termed a potent recruitment tool.

These people wear their ignorance like a badge, Lorne. And they take pride in their ignorance.

Did anyone tell him what happened to Lincoln?

My bet is that Lincoln's fate hasn't crossed his mind, Cap.

Why would he think of Lincoln's fate. its always about donni and his tiny hands On the other hand he may not actually know Lincoln was shot to death in a theatre.

it does seem very unfair that trump has managed to escape COVID 19 while he does so much to ensure others get it and die from it. Oh well perhaps some day some one will balance the books.

He's been lucky, e.a.f. He's skipped out on lots of tabs. Someday the bill will come due.
