Kenny's War

If you want a look into the near future, look at Alberta, where Jason Kenny is in the process of setting up a "war room." Gillian Stewart writes:

Yes, a war room. He’s mentioned it several times over the past few months so apparently it’s not just a passing whim. He even envisions satellite war rooms that could reach around the world.
And what would be the purpose of such bunkers no doubt stacked with maps, computers, weaponized social media, and trigger happy troops? To attack environmental campaigners every time they utter something about Alberta oil, pipelines, carbon emissions, or oil pollution.
Because, as Kenney sees it, environmentalists have brought Alberta to its knees and he’s just not going to take it anymore.

You may believe that Justin Trudeau's carbon tax is not substantial enough to curb our reliance on fossil fuels. But Kenny is dedicated to the proposition that addiction to those fuels is in Alberta's best interest:

His war room, which would be paid for with taxpayers’ money “would respond in real time through paid and social media to all the lies told about Canada’s energy industry,” Kenney told a conference organized by Monte Solberg, one of his fellow cabinet members in the Harper government and partly sponsored by a grassroots group that is closely associated with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
Kenney’s intended targets include the David Suzuki Foundation, The Pembina Institute, Greenpeace, the U.S-based Tides Foundation, and even the Rockefeller Foundation. As far as he is concerned they are enemies of Canada’s energy industry and need to be subdued even if it takes taxpayers’ money to do it.
And that’s not all.
If he becomes premier, Kenney plans to encourage a prominent oil company to sue Greenpeace as Resolute Forest Products has in the U.S. to the tune of $300 million.

For Kenny environmentalists are the enemy:

As Kenney sees it, environmentalists have brought Alberta to its knees and he’s just not going to take it anymore.
According to Kenney, “with a highly successful, deliberate, well-organized and hugely well-funded campaign of defamation” environmentalists have managed to “land lock Canadian energy” and thereby cost Alberta and the rest of Canada billions of dollars.
This is, of course, a reference to the stalled Trans Mountain pipeline and nixed pipeline projects Northern Gateway and Energy East. All three would have shipped diluted bitumen from Alberta to coastal ports.

We're heading for our own civil war in Canada. You can see it just over the horizon.

.. Jason Kenney.. now there's a disturbing enigma. A Harper Government rump remnant, who coulda shoulda woulda been ensconced within Stornoway rather than Andrew 'the white tail deer slayer dead eye shot at 425 metres' Scheer who has that great electoral advantage of being married to a woman.. and there are children ! Jason 'curry in a hurry' Kenney unfortunately twould seem was seen as 'unelectable' - living as a virgin so to speak, with his mommy was for some reason seen as a detriment or impediment.. tho I for one respect his & his mom's privacy and life choices or simple realities

But the 'war room' stuff .. That's abject failure in my view. Where the elected 'public service' to his local riding electorate evaporated to is a complete mystery.. tho its been his hallmark. All talk or 'hat' & no cattle.. that's Jason Kenney. Where he dreamed up his petro power provincial fallacies is a mystery.. from his dark lord Harper ? And the urgent need to interfere with educators, re school curriculum and sex ed or sexual identity or a woman's choice seems straight from the twisted labyrinth that Doug Ford adheres to.

Like all the super glib political spouters pouters and posturers, the litany and dogma just pours.. no oozes from westerner and cowpokey Jason. He needs a 'war room' for what ? To service his riding electorate ? Does he even have an idea re who his riding electorate are ? Bankers, welders, school teachers ? Doctors, bus drivers, lawyers or housewives ? Is he some sort of modern day Crusader for Catholicism ? Who can ignore the dreams, needs & wishes of his electorate and Albertans.. to herd his mysterious ideology and that of his 'war room' wankers into some sort of 'holy war western dilbit advantage' .. jam it as well into British Columbia's face & to 'tidewater' & jam er to Asia.. All this while waiting for Andrew Scheer to falter n fade as scheduled, so the federal party down east will welcome Jason's grand march to power n glory Amen..

"... have brought Alberta to it's knees." Really? Alberta has the highest GDP growth of any province in Canada.

There should be no doubt, rumley, what Jason stands for and what he stands against.

Owen Gray said...

What distinguishes Jason, sal, is what he is against -- and he's against so much.

But being brought to its knees can have more to do with just economic growth, UU. There will be lots of disruption ahead -- and that can be costly -- in more than economic terms.

As I read Kenney's vitriol, I was drawn back to the open letter of former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, and 90 top British academics, calling on us to rebel against people just like him and governments just like Alberta's and our own federal government. Where better is the argument made that their dereliction of the fundamental duty to protect their citizens from harm and protect the future for generations to come, triggers in us the right and the moral duty to rebel to defend life itself.

We have to treat those like Kenney as malignant, a source of grave and lasting harm to us, our descendants and the planet at large. He can read as plainly as any the urgent warnings of science and his stance about SLAPP suits is nothing less than saying "I don't care."

We were always heading toward this moment of struggle. Many of us thought it would be decades off and we were wrong. Here we are. We may have been wildly optimistic about the timing but we are on the right side of the moral question.

Now each of us has to decide what we're willing to do about it. What are we prepared to do on behalf of our kids and theirs? I really don't know. I'm looking for leadership, hoping that it will come from the Brits and their Extinction Rebellion which launches today.

Those who would flood the world with the filthiest, most toxic and highest-carbon ersatz petroleum at this point is almost, perhaps actually, a crime against humanity. There are some who powerfully argue just that.

We can write angry rebukes. We can claim the moral high ground and pat ourselves on the back. Or perhaps we can decide we do have that moral obligation to find ways to throw a wrench in their gears, no matter how unnatural that is to us.

What's it going to be?

If Kenny comes to power, Mound, the result will be catastrophic. In theory, our votes should keep him on the sidelines. But, these days, the majority of votes appear to be in favour of extinction.

Kenny in his own way is just as dangerous as dtrump.

these war rooms will be used to attack citizens who don't agree with him and his corporate pals. The contracts will go to Silcon Valley corporations who currently receive contracts from ICE AND other American government organizations to attack and track people in sanctuary cities.

The idea is not only to bankrupt people and organizations who oppose him and his corporate pals, but to instill fear and imprison people who disagree.

there is an interesting American blog, "shadowproof" which writes about how the American government treats prisoners who are actually activitists and their links to silcon valley. Front Line on PBS had an interesting 2 part series regarding goggle's complicit conduct in the expulsion of Muslims from Miramar and their involvement and enabling of Duterte of the Philippines.

Kenny, Ford, Scheer are a dangerous trio who continue to be involved with racists and their organizations. Although todays news advised Kenny had expelled another racist from his organization, you wonder how and why he got there to begin with. We have read about who Scheer's campaign organizer is, formerly with The Rebel and their are lovely pictures of Faith Goldy with Ford.

Its just Jason's job to go after the one group of people using his government resources while the others will attack other groups. In the end they will use Silcon Valley corporations to assist them.

Given what Front Line's message was, its dam scary that StatsCan has "seized" all of 500K Canadians SINs and financial records. If they get away with it, there will be more monitoring of our finances.

As to groups which are allegedly brining Alberta to its knees, I suspect there is only one person on his knees and that is little Jason Kenny. Montreal Simon does have the best cartoons of Jason in his knee high boots, etc.

It's becoming abundantly clear, e.a.f., that Conservative governments in this country --whether federal or provincial -- are guided by our darker aangels.
