Friends?

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has been visiting Alberta. The Calgary Herald reports that:

This week, Kenney hosted U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia who chairs the United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. Both spoke Tuesday of the hope to create a North American energy alliance to become less dependent on oil and gas from other parts of the world.

“This visit of Sen. Manchin is a huge, I think, confirmation for us that we have friends in the United States who understand the important role that we play in American energy security,” said Kenney.

The visit comes amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine that has spurred calls across the Western world to move away from Russian oil. Manchin spent Monday and Tuesday in the province on a trip that included a tour of the oilsands near Fort McMurray and roundtable meetings with energy officials in Calgary. Alberta Energy Minister Sonya Savage also took part.

Has anybody told Manchin that the oil sands produce bitumen? And that a good portion of Fort McMurray was eliminated in a wildfire just a few years ago?

Millions of us cheered when Texas Senator Ted Cruz -- who was born in Alberta -- renounced his Canadian citizenship. Manchin has made millions from West Virginia coal. Perhaps he's considering applying for Canadian citizenship.

From my temporary residence here in rural Illinois, I am no stranger to witnessing the antics of the reviled democrat(?) from West Virginia. This guy has literally condemned thousands of West Virginian children to starvation and poverty with his constant attacks on Biden's programs to rebuild. He has yachts, expensive cars and has taken kickbacks from the energy sector including coal. Two see these two snakes with their Cheshire grins makes we want to throw up. With these two guys parading around the Tar Sands the colour of green in their eyes is not the colour of the "shift" or the world. A pox on them both

Things that make you go hmmm- why Manchin and how are he and Kenney connected? (Spoiler- Ted Cruz) they have a lot in common- not the least of which is undermining their Federal counterparts. It's ridiculous beyond comprehension how a two-bit egotistical fraud like Manchin can derail a huge portion of the executive's agenda, and derail he did. The MSNBC's er's should be all over this story as Kenney is no friend of the democrats so why is it that he's cozying up to a Democratic Senator? Just another bombshell after bombshell day in North American politics. Oh, did you see that PP is attracting like massive, massive crowds, he would be anointed PM in an instant they say. BC Waterboy

These guys have their eyes on their future bank accounts, zoombats -- not the future of the planet.

As George Carlin warned long ago, waterboy: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."

At the risk of sounding elitist, Owen, I will tell you what I said to my wife last night on another, but related, matter: "Why have we given so much power to stupid people?" I find myself increasingly irritated these days by the power of the dog's tail.

That's a good question, Lorne. And, rather than learn from experience, we persist in repeating it.
