A couple of days ago, I wrote that Tucker Carlson planned to air a program in which he advocated the invasion of Canada by the United States. Carlson's last program was on Friday. So we will not -- it appears -- be seeing that program. That's good news. Michelle Goldberg writes:
When Fox settled the defamation lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million, the conventional wisdom was that it would alter little about the way Fox News operates.
Maybe the settlement didn’t change much, but it increasingly looks as if the lawsuit itself did. On Monday, news broke that Tucker Carlson, Fox News’s highest-rated and most demagogic prime time host, was out, and wouldn’t even get a final show to say goodbye. The Los Angeles Times reported that Carlson was defenestrated by Rupert Murdoch himself, and that his exit was related to the discrimination lawsuit filed by Carlson’s former head of booking Abby Grossberg. Grossberg alleges that Fox coerced her into giving misleading testimony in the Dominion case, and has said she filed the discrimination suit, as well as a separate lawsuit, after fearing that the network was going to make her a scapegoat.
Grossberg's case reveals that Carlson followed in the footsteps of previous big guns at Fox:
Grossberg describes an environment in which women of all political persuasions were constantly discussed in terms of sexual desirability. One of Carlson’s bookers, she alleges, was told that she should sleep with Elon Musk to secure an interview. She claims that Carlson’s executive producer Justin Wells, also fired on Monday, called her into his office to ask about the sex life of her previous boss, the Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. In a statement, Fox said that Grossberg’s accusations were made following a critical performance review, and said that it had hired “an independent outside counsel to immediately investigate the concerns” she had raised.
But, more importantly, Carlson was one of Donald Trump's biggest megaphones:
He was the Trumpiest of Fox News hosts, even though we now know, thanks to discovery in the Dominion case, that he hated Donald Trump “passionately.” Like Trump, he and his producers mined the white nationalist internet for narratives, promiscuously spread wild conspiracy theories, and hinted at the need for violence to take back America. After Trump was indicted last month, Carlson said, “Probably not the best time to give up your AR-15.” He created, as Nick Confessore wrote in The New York Times, “what may be the most racist show in the history of cable news — and also, by some measures, the most successful.”
Unfortunately, I suspect we haven't heard the last of Carlson. There is a huge market for the lies he peddles.

From what I read, Owen, RT (Russia Today) would welcome Carlson, given his pro-Putin views re: Ukraine, but I suspect that Newsmax will be the ultimate beneficiary of this seasoned journalist's 'expertise'.
After being fired, Fox stars like O'Reilly and Dobbs were never heard again. Beck managed to limp on under his own brand, but never regained the reach he once had.
Carlson may resurrect his White Power Hour on some other forum, maybe RT, but he'll be much diminished. Putin has lost a very useful idiot.
Somebody will pick him up, Lorne. The March of Folly continues.
Carlson offers proof -- yet again -- that inherited wealth does not ensure intelligence, Cap.
I doubt Newsmax can afford him as they have their own issues.

RT would make any price available for his services but being in bed with Russia would cause outrage on both sides of the political field.
Cap is correct; Carlson is doomed to the same fate as O'Reilly and Beck , insignificance!
Hot off the press....
Tucker Carlson just refused an offer of $100K per year plus benefits from Rebel News!!

He obviously believes he's still hot stuff, TB.
From my perch down here in rural Illinois it was a rare bit of news in this Republican bastion. But like politics my neighbours , all Fox viewers, don't want to talk about it and especially not with a Canadian Commie/Socialist. As we have remarked on this forum he had an adverse effect on Canadians, Trudeau and the Trucker issue as the only worthy issues to mention. Normally we were as always the brunt of jokes. Well now, he is the joke and as for future employment he has been "let go" from CNN, MSNBC and now fox so he is somewhat limited. Check out this link to Interview with Jon Stewart on "Crossfire" which ultimately brought about the cancellation some weeks later.
Maybe Skippy can hire him as a consultant.

Carlson, of course has told lies as a “news and opinion” guy. Fact is, everyone in that crowd does. At the very least by omission. But Carlson is different from the others too in that he told some very unsettling truths as well as the whoppers. And to me, that’s what got him fired. He was a voice of dissent about some pretty sensitive aspects of the Government/ Establishment/ Corporate /MSM agenda. He effectively did a journalist’s job and laid bare some pretty touchy subjects. Not just a whitewashed version of the prevailing narrative. Too much even for Fox. Plus that move will cool the heels of Ingraham, Hannity, Levin, Gutfield and their ilk who might dare to challenge conventional wisdom.
So now, why was Don Lemon fired? Telling lies too?
Mac
"They're hurting us." That's Carlson in a nutshell, zoombats.
We'll see if all this has a chilling effect, Mac. The jury is still out on that issue.

Carlson did say some unsettling comments that would upset the leftist blind!
He also said some unsettling comments about progressives that were and are well deserved?
Carlson , being a news and opinion guy! tried to distance himself from future contempt by using such ambiguous term(opinion)!
Let's not lose site of the objectives of a more Progressive Society by casually dismissing the rants of those that have more Conservative views!
I am an old school photographer and process black and white film!
I see life in grey? gray scales !

Carlson is a hatemonger, TB. Excusing him is dangerous business.
