He'll Live in Infamy

For weeks, Donald Trump has been claiming that Robert Mueller totally exonerated him. We should have known by now that was a lie. Mueller did nothing like that. E. J. Dionne writes:

The Mueller report paints a broad picture of an administration that systematically lied to just about everybody, including the public and the media. It describes a president prepared to do whatever was necessary to close down inquiries into his behavior and Russian ties. And it noted that “some of the individuals we interviewed or whose conduct we investigated — including some associated with the Trump Campaign — deleted relevant communications or communicated during the relevant period using applications that feature encryption.”

Besides the rampant corruption, the report verifies that Trump is a terrible executive. Things could have been worse:

Oddly, Trump may have been protected from even more damaging conclusions about obstruction by staff members who refused to do what he asked. “The President’s efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful,” the report found, “but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the President declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests.” Whatever this is, it is not exoneration of Trump.

This was, indeed, no exoneration. The Mueller report tells a story. And the story underscores the fact that Trump is -- perhaps -- the worst president in American history. Worse than Richard Nixon.

Trump's name will live in infamy.

Despite the true nature of the report, Owen, the only thing that will be remembered by Trump's worshipers is his repeated (ad nauseam) refrains of "No Collusion,"No obstruction." It appears that reality, not to mention history, is being ceded to those with the biggest bullhorn, the emptiest head and the least scruples.

.. the 'Trump Experiment' ... who knew it could be this bad. And we don't even know the half of it.. not even close. I'll be satisfied knowing all the folks who will join him in INFAMY are clearly named as well. The list is astonishing. That saying does apply 'everything Trump touches dies'.. and that includes the others, the enablers psychophants, opportunists, the ethically feeble, the liars, thieves, pillagers. We really have no idea the scope of what Trump et al are destroying, environmentally. Blind greed.. we are looking at a monumental mass failure among North Americans to roll up these abject losers & start publically humiliating them. Who would bother to defend them ? The US military ? NRA ? Fox TV ? Hannity ? Hell, Hannity is one of them.. as is Fox TV .. they better look to their own defense. The US Senate needs vilification and fumigation. Parasites and disease vectors.. addled & absent a shred of ethics.. sneering in their faux devout christian bubbles.. what a story ! Benedict Arnold, John Wilkes Booth.. move over.. got a new traitor ... an entire pack of them. Its a toss up who is the more despicable.. Donald Trump or Alex Jones.. McConnell or Hannity.. Making Evil Great Again.. and getting fabulously wealthy doing it

Mueller has provided clear evidence of "high crimes and misdemeanors," Lorne. But the Republican Senate won't do anything about them. They, too, will live in infamy.

It's clear that Trump is a social disease, sal -- like syphilis. And the final outcome could be collective insanity.

@Owen - best line ever!

I'm merely echoing Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Marie. But -- when it comes to Trump -- I think it's true.

There's so much peer reinforcement among his admirers that they're beyond shaming. The pukes who annoy me most are his supporters occupying political office, especially that Jordan character. That guy's got the perfect combination of confidence and smarm that seems to appeal to the slugs the party has targeted for support, people so stupid that they don't get it when somebody's so obviously having fun with them. This is the guy most likely to really shoot someone on Fifth Avenue just to see if it would help with his fundraising, No doubt he'll be President before he leaves.

I wouldn't discount his ambition, John. But, if there's one thing Trump's supporters don't see, it's naked ambition.
