During This Season

Every so often, my back rebels and I can't sit or stand at the computer for any length of time. I have recently experienced another such rebellion. But I am on the mend, and I will be back on a regular basis shortly.

I can't let this opportunity go by without  sending every one my best wishes for these holidays. This is the time of year when we contemplate Peace On Earth and Good Will To All. Given what we face, we desperately need more of each commodity.

May you know both peace and good will during this season.

Knew you'd come through. Good to know it's nothing irremediable and that you'll be back on the trail at some juncture. Best wishes for a speedy recovery among the best of family and friends, along with a good dose of holiday cheer and generally benign brouhaha, as opposed to the steady diet of upset that seems to surround us. Merry Christmas!

Pax vobiscum to you and yours, Owen. Putting it all aside for just these few days seems perfect, especially for those greeting new faces to their families. Merry Christmas to you, Owen, and all of yours.

Merry Christmas, Mound. It's easy to look at the world and to lose your sense of balance. We need this time to rejuvenate.

.. amen amen.. we second that commotion..

A veteran of 2 broken backs, and the odd sciatic nerve insults (spent a night or two, here n there in friends living room chairs I could not emerge from.. ) I discovered 'hydrotherapy' - now that was stand under a red hot shower (raise temp slowly but steadily) letting the showerhead pummel my hip or back or neck until it (the spasm) submitted or the hot water heater was running lukewarm. Nothing can defeat water.. not even stone. A few have given it a go.. and now agree with me.. pound the muscle into submission and the spasm will release.. but go on gently regardless.. and/or rest.. Let time into the equation. The bod wants to heal.. so help it along. Try to reduce the stress attitude we all feel when injured.. don't fight it, you can't 'win' - thoughts n prayers aint of any help either.. just go slow as hell.. then go slower.. get light as a butterfly landing on milkweed..

Hope to hear you're getting comfortable, mobile.. and look forward to the sage, concise opines and observations in the new year. I have a long road to travel to get to your tight n bright insights & Indy journo essay territory.. There's a neat, light, poetic economy to your work that I envy.. I need so many more words.. ergh .. !

Warm showers are part of the healing process, sal. Your comments are always insightful and I look forward to them in the new year.

With the startling decision to NOT take my computer along whilst visiting family for the last couple of days I am now back reading posts if not saying much. I must however pass along seasonal greetings to yourself and trust that your back will not be a restraint to your regular commentary.
I wish you A peaceful and painless 2019 Owen

I wish you the same, Rural. We all could use more peace and less pain.
