Truss Is Gone

That was fast. Liz Truss has resigned as prime minister of the U.K. Nick Eardley writes:

I've never seen anything like this. Let's be clear what's happened: yesterday Truss told us she was a fighter.

But the level of chaos in government, Parliament and the Conservative Party has led Truss to a point where she knows she can't continue.

What happens now is the quickest turnover of power we have seen in modern times.

This is a lightning speed change. The question is whether the Conservative Party can coalesce around a new leader and whether the party can avoid a general election.

In October we are going to have our third PM of the year.

She becomes the shortest serving prime minister in British history.

Her departure should serve as a warning to all conservatives.

The problem is Brexit. This misguided policy decision is ruining the British economy and everyone in power knows it. So only clowns like BoJo and Truss step forward into the firing line. I expect more of the same from the Tories. Unfortunately, none of the opposition parties are promising to rejoin the EU, so Remain supporters really have no place to park their votes.

If the consequences were not so dire for the have-nots in the UK ...
The BoJo/Truss-follies would make excellent material for a new Gilbert & Sullivan musical.

The Pirates of Penzance Sequel. Is Jim Carey available for the Boris role?

What was that definition of insanity, Cap? Doing the same thing and expecting a different result?

I'm sure he'd consider it, PoV.

Conservatives aren’t happy that is a given. However, they refuse to examine what their problem is. Imagine talking about “trickle down anything” at this time which leads nowhere man . So unreasonable. Anyong

They are frustrated, Anyong. And they are the cause of their own frustration.

Lettuce outlasted Truss, Mound? That's a bitter comment on her competence.

You downplay her achievements!

She buried the Queen.
She buried the chancellor.
She buried the pound.
She buried the country.
She buried the Conservative party!
All in a month.
Not much else to do except move to a tax haven county!

Her talent is unique, TB.

truss isn't a conservative. her actions were radical and out of touch with what G.B. needs.
Loved the comment by A., TB 7:17 p.m. good lines.

Leaving the E.U. wasn't the brightest move on the part of those who voted to leave. However, had there been better planning keeping the changes in mind and the needs of the citizens, things could have been better than they are now. Huge tax cuts for the wealthy isn't a plan for success. We've all seen thow "trickle down" economics works. The rich get richer and the not so rich become poorer.

Trickle-down has been a failure for a long time, e.a.f. Apparently, Truss didn't get the memo.
