In recent days, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas have sent a bus load and a plane load of migrants to Washington and Martha's Vineyard. The Martha's Vineyard stunt focused the attention of the nation. Michele Norris writes in The Washington Post:
It’s all part of an ongoing shift-and-dump campaign from Southern Republican governors who are using desperate people as political pawns to protest the Biden administration’s immigration policies. It happened again Thursday when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) claimed credit for sending two surprise buses full of migrants to D.C., where they were dropped off near the residence of Vice President Harris carrying all they have in clear plastic trash bags.
These moves surely delight those in the Trumpian base who have taken to social media with glee. The surprise drops are meant to underscore the alleged hypocrisy of liberals by forcing them to deal with an influx of immigrants.
But the residents of The Vineyard showed DeSantis and Abbott for who they are. It's a place that practices what it preaches:
It’s . . . a place that has over many decades opened its arms to various waves of immigrants, and it did so this week with no warning or preparation, standing up an emergency shelter within hours — finding food, clothing, inflatable beds, children’s toys, feminine hygiene products, linens and volunteer interpreters who speak Spanish.
DeSantis and Abbott claim to be Christians. One of the tenets of their faith is to welcome strangers. Not so for these hypocrites. In fact, they are two modern examples of the essential American hypocrisy:
It was all a hoax, and similar to the play toward hypocrisy this week, the thought then was that if busloads of Black families with lots of kids showed up in Hyannis and other cities, the Northerners would balk, and their insincerity would be exposed for all to see. Instead, local leaders, Black and White, formed a Refugee Relief Committee and arranged housing and jobs and got the children enrolled in schools.
So, what is the real objective when governors such as Abbott and DeSantis engage in this kind of charade? I think we know.
They are playing with people’s lives to impress their base.
It’s ugly stuff. And it underestimates the generous spirit of this country.
There is a long history in the United States of human trafficking. But, recently, those who engage in it have been indicted and jailed. DeSantis and Abbott should be treated like the many others who have spent time in the Graybar Hotel.

Let me see if I follow the thinking around here: Even though there is massive illegal immigration--est. at 5million since the Biden regime seized power--which is a federal responsibility being as it involves the international border, but one that is obviously not being addressed for political reasons; nonetheless, it is now being asserted that the regional governors are the criminals in this crisis for bussing a handful of these illegals into progressive sanctuaries in order to draw some attention to the crisis.
Is that about right?
Not being an American or an American lawyer, it does make you wonder if the people could sue the two deplorable governors. Might be "interesting". Might cost the governors some money which would be funnier.
These men say they're Christians, but they're not. They may profess to be, but really, there is this little guide book for Christians. Its called "Bible". The new testiment has all these game rules which essential boil down to be a decent human being. Perhap some one should ask these Governors how they do the things they do which obviously violate a lot of the game rules/suggestions in the Bible.
As i recall there is a line in the Bible, which quotes Jesus saying something about when you do unto the least of them you do it unto me or words to that effect. My question is, if Jesus showed up in the U.S.A. he'd be an undocumented person. What would these two Govenors do with him? Some body could ask them.
Now to be clear I'm not a Christian,more of an atheist or agnosic but I did go to Sunday School and church as a kid and I do remember a few things. These two Govenors are no different than the mullahs in Iran. Last week the "clothing police" arrested a woman for not wearing a head scarf and beat her to death. Made a lot of papers, but really, what happens if people get on those buses and jets and die because they crash or are attacked or just to weak to finish such a jounrney.

This week Florida Governor Ron DeSantis opted to follow the example of Texas Governor Greg Abbott and begin his own program of migrant relocation, flying them straight to the affluent backyard of open border advocates like Barack Obama. The island is also the vacation destination for numerous corporate elitists including Bill Gates.
We have seen the clear results of the migrant busing strategy in New York and Washington DC, where Democrat Mayors are scrambling to deal with the influx of a mere 10,000 total immigrants. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser even asked that the federal government intervene and allow the national guard to take over the handling of the situation (the request was denied). New York Mayor Eric Adams complained that illegal immigrants were a “burden” on his city.
The shelter systems in both cities are overwhelmed and they don't have the capacity to maintain aid. Keep in mind, this is due to a tiny fraction of the migrants that border towns in states like Texas deal with annually.
Of course, leftists refuse to acknowledge the lesson they are being taught here. Instead of recognizing the folly of Biden's continued open border measures that essentially reward non-citizens that illegally invade with long term residency in the US, democrats have instead decided the best option is to attack conservative states as being “monstrous” for “using people as political pawns.” Set aside the fact that this is exactly what leftists have been doing for some time, and the fact that Biden has been relocating migrants across the US since he entered office.
You see, the political left is perfectly fine with relocation and strategically implanting migrants into specific area of the country, but only if THEY get to choose the locations. They do not like that their tactics are now being used against them
Officials in Martha's Vineyard put on quite the song-and-dance theatrics for the media cameras when the 50 DeSantis migrants showed up on their doorstep. They pontificated about taking care of the less fortunate and leaving the door open to helping others in need. They even fed the migrants, unloading hot meals from vans and trucks as the media recorded everything carefully. But, their hospitality only lasted for a day and everything changed.
Martha's Vineyard is now busing most or all of the migrants off of the island and sending them to Cape Cod Military Base. So much for the well publicized image of the humanitarian left. They don't want to take care of these people either.
The media is adding spin to the relocation news, suggesting that the move is “voluntary.” However, it would be interesting to see what would happen if the migrants actually refused to leave. Would they really be allowed to stay in the resort town for the ultra rich? Or, would they be quietly kicked out and told to never come back? It is doubtful that the relocations from Martha's Vineyard are optional.
The true face of open border ideology is one of exploitation for political gain. Democrats have been consistently hostile towards any attempts at state voter ID laws for a reason – They hope to use illegal immigrants as a battering ram to destabilize our existing culture and also as a voting pool that would make them impossible to remove from office in the near future. They have sought to purchase votes indirectly by offering citizenship in exchange for loyalty. In other words, they let the illegals in, block voter identification, and then say “vote for us or the conservatives will kick you out.”
And yet, here they are, kicking the same migrants from their precious enclaves like Martha's Vineyard. Leftists want conservatives to deal with the consequences of their border politics. The second they have to deal with the consequences, suddenly the relocation of migrants is a travesty and a governmental emergency. The hypocrisy of the left is endless.

Biden has a huge problem on his hands, Thomas. But to characterize his policy as "open borders" is unfair. The entire world -- because of war and climate change and economic inequality -- is looking at huge population shifts. Dealing with those shifts is not easy.
