A Matter Of Time

Bill Blum writes that Donald Trump is finished:

Donald John Trump, the 45th president of the United States, is going to be impeached. Not only that, but whether or not the GOP-controlled Senate convicts Trump of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” his presidency is drawing to a close. Unless a political deus ex machina comes to his rescue, he will not serve a second term.

There is all kinds of evidence to point to Trump's removal. But, as with Richard Nixon, the articles of impeachment should be short and simple:

1. Abuse of power for Ukraine.
2. Using the presidency for personal gain.
3. Obstruction of justice for the Mueller investigation and the wholesale defiance of congressional subpoenas.

As with Nixon, the tide demanding Trump's removal is rising:

The current situation is much more akin to 1974, which saw Nixon’s popularity steadily erode until his resignation, than 1999, which saw Bill Clinton’s popularity climb. A CBS News Poll released Sunday showed a whopping 55% of respondents favor the impeachment inquiry. A Quinnipiac University Poll survey released on Monday went beyond the inquiry, finding respondents evenly split, 47 percent to 47 percent, on whether they support impeaching President Trump and removing him from office, a 10-point swing in favor of impeachment over a five-day period.

He has given the Congress the evidence it needs. Now it's just a matter of time.

There was an op-ed in Newsweek from a former W. Bush adviser who believes Trump will be gone before the House moves to impeach. This fellow contends that Trump is ramping up the pressure with veiled threats of 'civil war' and such in order to get an immunity deal from Congress and New York State for himself, his family and the Trump Organization.

Could he be right, who knows? Trump coerced the fealty of Congressional Republicans because he claimed that he, Donald Trump, was the key factor in their House and Senate elections and that those who didn't bend the knee would be primaried into oblivion. Every Congressional Republican knows that Trump demands absolute loyalty but gives none and that he has a sadist streak that runs through everything he does.

Now, with Trump's numbers tanking and so much evidence of culpable abuse of office emerging, it's harder for Trump to play the Don of the Republican mob family. When you swim with sharks...

Who knows, Mound? Perhaps Trump will resign. It's beginning to look like a repeat of All The President's Men.

.. I often utilize medical terms when commenting on political malfeasance or outright partisan behaviour. Thus I have called Donald Trump 'the pus sack president'. There is a huge relief to the sudden release of pressure of a pus sack or a boil. They are commonly lanced and sterilized.. but simply may burst of their own volition.

Trump however meets a more dangerous criteria & level to North American society.. and more. What he has become.. and already was.. is more a cancer that has now metastisized. A cancerous part of the public body that should have been resected (cut out) or radiated or hit with chemotherapy, was instead allowed to proliferate and spread. That usually seen as a 'terminal' situation for the living body.

Some might say quite correctly, that Trump is also contagious.. a disease vector.. not sure that isn't correct. But right now, the American Congress is looking at radiation therapy in conjunction with chemotherapy.. (impeachment) followed by resection.. (surgical removal of part or all of the diseased, cancerous organ). This done in stages.. following a medical protocol

In real life however.. Trump will be forced to withdraw.. which a cancer almost never will do. He will resect himself.. as the rest of the body he has infected realizes they are dead meat and will now be bombarded with radiation and chemo.. by remaining part of his 'presidency'.. and to some extent resected themselves..

End of medical analogy lecture.. As I have commented elsewhere he will be savaged evermore.. there is no legacy (gift) and the damage will likely require generations to fully comprehend or heal, if ever. That old insult 'everything Trump touches, dies' will become common understanding.. Nobody will savage Benedict Arnold or John Wilkes Booth, or Nixon.. without invoking Donald Trump. Mitch McConnell may try to climb from the slime by not interfering in a Senate vote after an impeachment trial.. but to do so he will have to lie to other Trump enablers.. as he is completely complicit and vulnerable historically as are all dirtbags

For Trump's dim immediate family, ignomy awaits, but they can get his money. For those Trump fired - vindication, or at least a defense. Giuliani is probably screwed, Barr too and anyone who went against Robert Mueller or Comey.. Sean Hannity deserves a special place and we may see him try to slither away. This may be spectacular.. mainstream media frenzy.. tearing at a helpless, hopeless screetching whining carcass.. We're about a year out.. Pence and GOP may be, should be - blowing in the radiated wind.. Putin and China falling over themselves laughing

This will take time, sal. And Trump will take a number of people with him. It could get particularly ugly.
