Merry Christmas

My wife and I received our boosters yesterday. I received mine from a retired doctor. He was there to make things work. Several other retired health care workers and members of service clubs were there for the same reason.

Christmas isn't about me. It's about others. And it's about joy and possibility. Whichever and however you celebrate this season, may you also know joy and possibility.

Merry Christmas.

At $220 an hour, if I were an MD I'd come out of retirement to give boosters too! The MD pay rate for Covid shots has long been a sore point for the nurses who are getting paid a quarter of that for exactly the same work.

Anyway, glad you're all vaxxed up. I spent three hours in line to get mine a couple of weeks ago. Best wishes to you and yours, and stay safe over the holiday season!

Merry Christmas, Owen. My older brother has also come out of retirement to administer vaccine jabs although he finds a six hour shift about all he can handle.

I had hoped to travel to Vancouver for Christmas with the family but that's not in the cards this year. Instead we're going to Skype or Zoom, some sort of virtual gathering. The important thing is to remember how very fortunate we all are.

With possibly another year, maybe two of Covid to come we really need to resist this Covid fatigue business. Enjoy your Christmas and your family.

Cheers

The inequities caused by COVID -- and human incompetence -- haven't gone away, Cap. But we're grateful for the vaccines. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Our youngest son will be coming in from Ottawa tonight, Mound. The rest of us will meet on ZOOM. We'll do what we must until this is over. Merry Christmas.

I'm glad to know you got your shot, Lorne. It is the best weapon we have for this disease. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

My sister, a Registered Nurse, has been advocating for years for equal pay for equal work with applied knowledge. Sorry to be a downer but let’s call it what it is in most cases even on Christmas Eve, it is an attempt “to get their name on the wall” for being paid for “helping out. Merry Christmas to you and your family Owen, and, those who follow this blog. May we all face a better year coming than the last. I have my booster shot…Yeah! Anyong..

It's been a very tough year, Anyong. Let's hope the year ahead will be an improvement.

thanks for the greeting,

A little Christmas trivia ...

"The special's musical supervisors, Ian Fraser and Larry Grossman, originally intended the duo to record a straightforward rendition of "The Little Drummer Boy".[7] However, Bowie balked at singing "Little Drummer Boy": "I hate this song. Is there something else I could sing?", Fraser recalled Bowie telling him. Scriptwriter Buz Kohan further stated that Bowie felt "Little Drummer Boy" "wasn't a good showcase for his voice".[5] Startled, Fraser, Grossman, and Kohan found a piano in the studio's basement and wrote "Peace on Earth" as a counterpoint to "Little Drummer Boy" in just over an hour.[7][9] Regarding the experience, Kohan said, "It all happened rather rapidly. I would say within an hour, we had it written and were able to present it to [Bowie] again."[10] Crosby performed "Little Drummer Boy", while Bowie sang "Peace on Earth", which they reportedly performed after less than an hour of rehearsal.[7] Kohan added that "Bing loved the challenge" of the arrangement, stating he "was able to transform himself without losing any of the Crosby-isms."[10]" ~Wikipedia
